Feature in DeSoto Magazine

Honored to share this story about my ongoing Delta cowboys project — though, it's really strange to see a picture of me in print. My extremely talented writer friend Jill Gleeson asked to write this feature in the new Desoto Magazine — and I am beyond grateful for Jill's thoughtful piece. Thanks, my friend 🤠! Delta Supper Club for the New York Times

What a night Delta Supper Club! So honored to document the evening on assignment for  The New York Times along with writer Hunter Atkins. Please check out my photos from the evening here: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/29/t-magazine/food/michelle-bernstein-delta-supper-club.html?referer&_r=2

Feeling proud today! But really, all the credit goes to the excellent folks who make Delta Supper Club such a meaningful occasion — each and every time!

Po' Monkey's Flood Slip.

Thankfully, Po' Monkey's is safe and sound with all the rain we've had. The parking lot is flooded. I did not intend to go swimming in it, but a huge drop-off caused me to lose my footing, slip on my back and fall neck-deep in the floodwater. No harm to me or the two cameras I was carrying. I held them up to the sky during the fall. All worth it!

Delta Backroads, Just After Takeoff.

Delta Backroads, Just After Takeoff.

It's an easy mistake to perceive the Mississippi Delta as flat and monotonous. What I've come to love about the Delta is that there's beauty everywhere you turn, whether you're turning on the ground or in the air. You just need to observe with a mindful eye.
